Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand the participatory experience on psychodrama of nursing students.
Methods: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological method of van Manen was adopted and analysed in this study. The participants of this study consisted of 8 nursing students. Data were collected by in-depth interviews and observation from March. 11st 2015 to June. 30th, 2015. Data analysis were classified using line-by-line approach and highlighting approach. Essential themes and thematic statement were expressed so that the experiences and existences of research participants could be described sufficiently.

Results: The Four thematic statements identified in this study were as follows: ¡®A curiosity about the self arises¡¯, ¡®New experiences felt miraculous¡¯, ¡®Understanding the self by observing me inside of me¡¯ and ¡®An opportunity to find a new self¡¯.

Conclusion: The results of this study can be utilized as an important material for educating nursing students and also as basis for data leading professional nurses to experience various treatment therapies. The study, however, is conducted with only few students, and should not be over-interpreted. Nursing research that utilize various therapeutic methods should be conducted in the future.
